Advanced Junior Development Tennis Programs

hiperfpage2014High Point Park Tennis Center offers progressively challenging classes for youth who have completed the entry level courses for their age group. For those who have trained at other facilities, free evaluations by one of our junior development tennis pros to determine appropriate advanced class placement.

Free evaluations are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm. No appointment is necessary. Evaluations are on a first-come basis and take approximately 5-10 minutes. There is no charge. Come into the pro shop and let the staff know that you would like your son/daughter to be evaluated. Players are evaluated on their understanding and performance of basic strokes such as forehand, backhand, serve, and volley.

Whether new to our facililty or a graduate of a High Point class, all of the programs below require instructor approval before registering. Upon receiving a recommendation, families may enroll their child either in person at High Point Tennis Center or over the phone (972) 941-7170, option 5. On-line registration is not available.

Overview of Programs:

Pre-Junior Development I is a program for children 6-10 years of age who have completed the Pee Wee I & II classes.

Pre-Junior Development II is a program for children 6-10 years of age who have completed PreJD 1 and have developed more advanced tennis skills.

Future Stars Junior Development is designed for the young player who wants to work on his/her game through organized play situations, group instruction and drills. The main emphasis is on play situations that use challenge ladders, tournaments and round robins, that are organized by instructors. Future Stars is for the player with little or no tournament experience. Enrollment is limited - players who completed the previous session will have priority when registering for the next session. Players who are new to Future Stars must have taken two (2) group classes or have equivalent lesson experience. Players are encouraged to take private lessons in addition to participating in Future Stars.

Competitive Junior Development is designed for the young player with limited tournament experience and/or players preparing for future tournament competition. Class time is divided into three parts: drills, play situations, and conditioning. Instructors encourage players to enter local youth tournaments by informing them of upcoming tournaments, providing entry blanks, helping to arrange transportation, and accompanying and observing players during tournaments whenever possible. Players are encouraged to take private lessons in addition to participating in Competitive. Enrollment is limited-players who completed the previous session will have priority when registering for the next session.

High Performance Juniors — This workout program is designed for highly motivated junior players seeking sectional and national rankings. Limited to Super Championship qualified players and highly motivated Championship players seeking Super Championship qualification. All players must have the approval of Mark Vos, Head of Junior Player Development to enroll. Players are encouraged to take private lessons in addition to the High Performance option. 

High Performance 10 & Under Our "High Performance 10 & Under" Program that is tailored to meet the needs of top 10 & Under players in the area. As the name implies, we are targeting the most talented and dedicated 10 & Under players who are looking for a more intensive training program to further develop the skills needed to become top tournament performers. Players in this program are playing tournaments, taking private lessons, and have goals of earning high sectional and national rankings.
