METROPLEX LEAGUE PLAY
The Dallas-Fort Worth area offers a variety opportunities for league and tournament play.
UNITED STATES TENNIS ASSOCIATION (USTA) – TEXAS SECTION
USTA is a nationwide organization headquartered in Florida. Teams from 13 regions across the country participate in its programs, with Texas designated as its own region. Competitive divisions include Men’s Singles and Doubles, Women’s Singles and Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.
Competitive Play Opportunities for Adults and Juniors
Adults and junior players interested in competing are encouraged to visit the USTA Tennis Link page for information on adult leagues and both adult and junior tournaments available throughout the metroplex and across the nation.
To find details about a specific event, click on the tournament ID. This will redirect you to the USTA page with complete tournament information and online registration.
During a tournament, the same links can be used to access updates on draws, match times, and match locations, as well as any weather-related schedule changes.
Please Note:
All junior and adult players wishing to participate in USTA tournaments must first become USTA members. Membership options are available for adults, juniors, and families. Additionally, each tournament requires a separate registration fee.
TENNIS COMPETITORS OF DALLAS (TCD)
TCD operates throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and boasts a membership of over 6,000 members.
The league offers organized doubles match play for Ladies teams, Love 50 (women age 50 and above, Love 60 (women age 60 and above), as well as Mixed Doubles.
In addition, TCD now offers Pickleball Competitors of Dallas (PCD), providing league play for Golden Picklers, Ladies Indoor, Ladies Outdoor, Men’s, and Mixed divisions.
METROPLEX TENNIS LEAGUE (METRO)
Metro offers women a competitive weekend tennis league option. All matches are doubles format.
TOURNAMENTS
USTA offers tournaments in both singles and doubles formats. To participate, players must meet the tournament’s eligibility requirements, including holding the appropriate NTRP rating. Many players find tournaments appealing due to their minimal time commitment – typically a weekend – as well as their availability in all 50 states. Tournaments provide an excellent opportunity to enhance playing skills and potentially improve one’s rating.
High Point Park Tennis Center is a member organization of the United States Tennis Association and enforces all USTA Rules and Regulations including:
How do I find a team?
There are three ways to find a team:
- Contact the Pro Shop: Provide any staff member with your name, phone number, email address, NTRP Rating or Self-Rating (USTA), and the league(s) you’re interested in. When teams notify us that they’re seeking new members, we’ll share your information with them.
- Use the “Partner UP!” Bulletin Board: Fill out a card and post it in the “Partner UP!” section located in the shop. Players and team captains regularly check this board when looking for new members.
- Get Involved: Participate in adult tennis workouts, High Point leagues, or take private lessons. These are great opportunities to meet other players (many of whom are already on teams) and connect with coaches who work directly with High Point-based teams.
What are the requirements to join a team?
Requirements are typically based on age, gender, and skill level.
Since skill level tends to generate the most questions, most league organizations refer to the USTA’s National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP). If you haven’t competed through the USTA, you can still self-rate by comparing your abilities to the USTA’s General and Experienced Player Guidelines.
Where are matches played?
All High Point Adult League matches are played at High Point Tennis Center.
USTA, TCD, and METRO Leagues consist of teams based at various tennis facilities across the metroplex. These facilities serve as the “Home Courts” for the teams that play out of them. Teams, such as those from High Point, are responsible for registering directly with the desired League Organization. Once registered, the league groups teams by “Flight” (play level). Prior to the start of each season, the league organizes the match schedule within each flight. While some variations may occur, the typical procedure is that approximately half of the season’s matches are played “at home,” with the other half played “away” at the opponent’s home court facility. After each match, the “Home Court” Captain is responsible for submitting the final scores to the league.”
How can I find practice partners/opponents to hit with?
The “Partner UP!” section of the pro shop board offers a simple and effective way to find practice partners.
Another great option is to participate in the High Point Adult Leagues. These leagues provide seven weeks of matches, giving you the opportunity to meet and compete against others in a social setting.
Consider joining a Singles League or a Progressive Doubles League!
*Progressive Doubles Definition: Sign up as an individual for a doubles league, and we’ll assign you a different partner each week, along with new opponents for each match!
