SALLIE CANAN

Tennis Professional

Coach Sallie is from Jacksonville, TX, where she began playing tennis at an early age in a big tennis-loving family. As the youngest of 11 children, she could always find someone to hit with – whether is was her parents or one of  her many siblings.

She played high school tennis at Jacksonville High School, advancing to the UIL State Tournament her senior year. She continued her love for the sport at The University of Texas at Austin, where she played and won intramural college tennis while earning her Nursing Degree – Hook ‘em Horns!

For six summers, a highlight of her year was teaching kids at the Texas A&M Tennis Camp under Coach David Kent. She coached the St. Mark Catholic School Tennis Team in Plano and the Bishop Lynch High School Tennis Team, where her 2 children, Callie and Luke, played.

Coach Sallie and her husband (Coach Steve), stay active in league play and often compete together in mixed doubles. They have been state-ranked in Husband/Wife Mixed Doubles. Coach Sallie has competed at USTA League Nationals seven times, placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, and 3rd – finishing in the top three five out of the seven appearances. She is also active in Metro and TCD Leagues.

Dual RSPA-certified in Tennis and Pickleball, Coach Sallie loves teaching and helping players of all ages enjoy these wonderful lifetime racquet sports!
