Future Stars & Competitive

Future Stars and Competitive junior development program are for youth ages 10-17 who want to step up their skills. Competition in local tournaments is actively encouraged. These programs require a minimum 2 day/week commitment. Length of each session is  typically between 6-8 weeks.

Junior development programs require pre-approval. Current High Point students may get approval from their High Point coach.  

Complimentary evaluations available. Players who have participated in a junior development program elsewhere, are welcome to attend a free evaluation. Please call reserve a spot in advance.  If you register and cannot attend, please call and cancel as space is limited. 

Evaluations for youth ages 10 1/2 and older, are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm. Evaluations for youth ages 10 1/2 and under are held Monday and Wednesday evenings at 5:45 p.m. Please call (972) 941-7170, option 3 to schedule.

On the evening of the scheduled evaluation,  please arrive a few minutes early to complete a brief form. Evaluations are geared toward prospective students who already have prior tennis experience. This may be through participation in group classes or private lessons elsewhere, or participation on a school team. Once the evaluation is completed, come into the pro shop for details on the class suggested for your child.

Once you have set up an account, you may call or stop by High Point to register your child.  Online registration is not available.

Future Stars

Future Stars is for the player with little or no tournament experience. The program is designed for the young player who wants to work on his/her game through organized play situations, group instruction and drills. The main emphasis is on play situations that use challenge ladders, tournaments and round robins. Enrollment is limited – players who completed the previous session will have priority when registering for the next session.

Players who are new to Future Stars must have taken two (2) group classes or have equivalent lesson experience. Students are encouraged to take private lessons in addition to participating in Future Stars.

Competitive

Competitive Junior Development is designed for players with limited tournament experience and/or players preparing for future tournament competition. Class time is divided into three parts: drills, play situations, and conditioning. Instructors encourage players to enter local youth tournaments by informing them of upcoming tournaments, providing entry blanks, helping to arrange transportation, and accompanying and observing players during tournaments whenever possible. Players are encouraged to take private lessons in addition to participating in Competitive. Enrollment is limited-players who completed the previous session will have priority when registering for the next session.
