How do I register my child for an activity?
Registration for all programs is managed through Plano Parks and Recreation. Participation is open to everyone—you do not need to be a Plano resident. To register, click the Activities tab, use the search bar and filters to find your desired activity, add it to your cart, and check out.
Please note: parents must first create an account with Plano Parks and Recreation before registering a child. Once your account is active, you will be prompted to enter your child’s information when signing up for a youth class. You may also register by calling or visiting High Point.
What is the Cancellation Policy
To receive a full refund, withdrawals must be requested at least two weeks before the class start date. Withdrawals made at least one week in advance will receive an account credit. Withdrawals for medical reasons are accepted at any time with a valid doctor’s note.
What class level should my child begin with?
If your child is new to tennis or hasn’t played in a while, we recommend starting with an age-appropriate beginner class.
For students with prior tennis experience — such as participation in group classes, private lessons, or school teams — evaluations are available to determine class placement. To schedule an evaluation, please call (972) 941-7170, option 2.
For your scheduled evaluation, please arrive a few minutes early to complete a short form. After the evaluation, stop by the pro shop to learn which class is the best fit for your child.
What are the qualifications of your tennis instructors?
Our instructors are certified by national tennis organizations (USPTA or PTR), have extensive teaching experience, or both. All are accomplished players with a history of tournament wins, awards, and titles. Visit Our Team page for more information.
What should my child bring to class?
Equipment & Attire
Instructors provide carts of balls, and demo racquets are available to borrow from the pro shop at no charge (ID or car keys required for checkout). If your child has their own racquet, we encourage them to bring it. Wear season-appropriate athletic clothing — light, breathable gear in summer and layers in winter — along with tennis shoes, a hat or visor, and sunscreen.
Drinks
Bring water, Gatorade, or another sports drink (no sodas, please). Beverages are also available for purchase in the pro shop.
How will I know if a class is cancelled due to weather?
Download the Rainout Line app for your mobile phone, available for both iPhone and Android. Open the app, enter “Plano” in the search box, and click Search. Select “Plano Parks & Recreation Rainout Info” and scroll to “High Point Tennis Center.” Tap to view the current weather conditions at High Point.
What happens if my class gets cancelled?
If a class is cancelled, the instructor will schedule a make-up and contact parents directly with the details. While we aim to hold make-ups on the same day and time at the end of the session, this is not guaranteed.
